Ice Storm Forest Research & Technology Transfer

Welcome
Welcome to the ISFRATT (Ice Storm Forest Research and Technology Transfer) web site. This site summarizes Ontario’s forest science efforts following the 1998 ice storm. In addition we have tried to include other pertinent ice storm-related information such as photos, maps, publications and links to other useful sites. We will be updating this site from time to time as new results become available.

Feel free to browse through the site and read about the latest projects and results. Some of the research currently underway includes the affect of the ice storm on maple sap volume and sweetness, taphole recovery, root starch reserves, fertilizer applications, foliar and soil analysis, vegetation surveys, soil microbes, microclimate changes, insect populations, survey plots, biological and economic effects of salvage operations and management options from an economic perspective.
